- Raleigh, N.C. – With the prevalence of Valentine’s Day-related media messages, themes of love, friendship and relationships abound throughout the month of February. One area that should not be neglected, however, is professional relationships.
To help communicators develop and strengthen professional relationships, the North Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (NCPRSA) is hosting a special lunch presentation by James Protzman on Feb. 25 entitled “But Do They Really Love You? Conversations That Lead To Great Relationships.”
Attendees will learn about growing existing client relationships, establishing rapport and trust, and conversing candidly with clients and coworkers to help avoid time-consuming or costly misunderstandings. The session will also include role-playing and tips on how to foster open and honest conversations while maintaining respect and professionalism.
Protzman is a 20-year marketing and public relations veteran. He started a marketing and research company called FGI in 1982, which later merged with Capstrat. Protzman worked with Capstrat as head of strategy until 2007 and is now a freelance writer living in Chapel Hill. He has studied at the U.S. Naval Academy and the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
“In this age of e-mails, texts, tweets and instant communications, it’s important to remember that personal conversations still play a critical role in fostering strong relationships,” said Meghan Woodlief, NCPRSA programs co-chair. “I’m sure James Protzman’s presentation will be insightful and thought-provoking.”
