Smith Anderson Hosts Students from Five North Carolina Law Schools at Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights
Triangle -

Raleigh -  Jason Brege, Kelli Ovies and Robert Rehm, lawyers with Smith Anderson’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, presented a seminar titled “Creating, Sharing and Maintaining Intellectual Property Rights in the United States” to law students from area law schools on Monday, November 23. Participating law schools included UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, Wake Forest University, Campbell University and North Carolina Central University.

Rehm’s presentation focused on creating intellectual property (IP) rights; Brege spoke about sharing IP rights and Ovies ended the day by speaking about maintaining IP rights. The seminar focused not only on providing the law students a detailed perspective – from practicing lawyers – on some of the fundamental legal principles governing this complex area of the law, but also on giving the students an opportunity to network with one another.

“With significant changes in the ways individuals and businesses access, utilize, and exchange information and related technology, issues surrounding intellectual property are becoming increasingly relevant,” explains Rehm.
