Hardee’s® Supports NC State Athletics and Donates $6,375 to the Wolfpack Club |
- NC State Student Raises $2,500 in Hardee’s Scholarship Shootout
RALEIGH, N.C. – Feb. 27, 2009 - Hardee’s donated $6,375 to the NC State Student Aid Association, commonly known as the Wolfpack Club, at the NC State men’s basketball game in Raleigh this past weekend. Mike Hancock, executive vice president of Boddie-Noell Enterprises, the largest Hardee’s franchisee in North Carolina as well as the U.S. and a 1976 NC State graduate, presented the check to Executive Director Bobby Purcell and other Wolfpack Club representatives.
Over the past year, Hardee’s has donated $25 for every 3-point shot made by an NC State men’s basketball player at all regular season games, both home and away. To date, the Wolfpack has made 155 3-point shots worth $3,875.
The check presentation took place immediately following the exciting Hardee’s Scholarship Shootout in the RBC Center where NC State student Matt Riley sunk several shots to increase the amount of donated money donated. Riley proved he could handle the pressure by making five free throws worth $250 each, and one 3-pointer worth $1,250. Thanks to Riley’s efforts, $2,500 was added to the grand total donated by Hardee’s to the Wolfpack Club. Additionally, all NC State students at the game were given coupons at halftime good for free Hardee’s food.
“We enjoyed stepping in and providing an opportunity for an NC State student to help raise money for the Wolfpack Club,” said Jerry Allsbrook, chief marketing officer for Boddie-Noell Enterprises. “Hardee’s was born right here in North Carolina and we couldn’t think of a better way to honor our roots than to support the NC State Wolfpack Club.”
The mission of the Wolfpack Club is to provide private financial support for athletic scholarships and facilities for NC State University. Additionally, the Student Aid Association provides communication and services for all friends of Wolfpack athletics. All of the activities of the Association are done with the highest integrity for academic and athletic excellence and within the guidelines established by the University, the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
