Vanguard Homes Now Building in Briar Chapel |
|
- Cary, N.C. – September 16, 2008, Vanguard Homes is pleased to be participating in a groundbreaking project, Briar Chapel, a 1,600 acre master planned green community developed by Newland Communities and located just a few miles from Chapel Hill. Briar Chapel is the largest community in the Triangle requiring rigorous Green Building standards. This groundbreaking community features 900 acres of open space, 24 miles of trails, a 66-acre community park, clubhouse, two pools, a natural amphitheater, a thriving charter school and a middle school slated to open in 2010.
In Briar Chapel, Vanguard Homes is making the future “Sensibly Green” with a state of the art concept home. This unique home bridges the gap between ENERGY STAR and extreme green technologies.
Currently under construction, the concept home will apply to achieve gold level certification from the Green Home Builders of the Triangle and National Home Builder’s Association Green Building Standard. It will provide a wide range of sustainable features, both inside and out. To conserve water, the home will include Water Sense™ qualified dual flush toilets and low-flow faucets. In addition the concept house will offer whole house water filtration, and a solar hot water heater. With a computer-monitored irrigation system, cisterns will collect and distribute captured rainwater for usage on plants, smart landscaping and water features.
The home’s indoor air quality will benefit from high HEPA filters, and low VOC paints and carpeting. An ENERGY STAR Advanced Lighting Package will deliver daily energy savings, and solar tubes will deliver natural daylight while reducing energy usage. The home will also feature ENERGY STAR appliances, and sustainable materials are planned to be used throughout including quartz counter tops, carbon fiber carpeting, and LEED certified ceramic tile.
Vanguard is one of America’s only homebuilders that is ENERGY STAR qualified, GBI certified and builds to WaterSense™ specifications. To learn more about available Vanguard Homes in Briar Chapel please visit www.briarchapelnc.com.
